Point Guard Academy 2008

POSTPONED- Stay Tuned for new dates

 Point Guard Academy 2008

 What Is Point Guard Academy?

PGA is an intense learning experience for Junior High and High School athletes, both young men and women. PGA is not a typical basketball camp as the curriculum is designed to teach the athlete to be a true "floor general" and to be able to lead their teammates by example both on and off the floor. Inspired by Mano Watsa and Point Guard College, PGA will instill a mental and physical capacity to go from an average player to a "special" player.

Why You Should Attend

In todays game, talent and instinct will not be enough to get you to the next level. Every player needs to be able to see the game mentally and PGA will teach you just that! The "little things" are the most valuable assets a "special" player can obtain and during the PGA session, athletes will be put into many situations that will challenge both your leadership and communication skills.

 Academy Highlights

Classroom Sessions - Athletes will need to bring a notebook and a pen to take notes during our classroom sessions. It is here, where we will start to open the minds of the athletes and breakdown the game into an organized fashion. This is a vital part of the academy and athletes will be expected to listen and ask questions.

Gym Sessions - Taking the concepts from the classroom to the court. Here, we will begin to create positive actions that will reinforce the lessons taught in the classroom sessions. Custom drills and game situations will be used to build good habits that will generate leadership and effective play.

Video Sessions - We will study actual game footage that will show the athletes positive and negative results when choices are made during live play. We will teach the athletes to watch the game as a student, rather than a fan. Basketball requires intelligence, and studying video will help to build a better basketball I.Q.
